Please meet Adam Merkin, a 7th grade soccer player currently attending Wellesley Middle School. Adam loves soccer and has always enjoyed playing against the Dorchester teams. This year, as part of his Bar Mitzvah, Adam decided to embark on a project – to collect used and new soccer equipment for Dorchester Youth Soccer. On Sunday, November 27, 2009 Adam and his parents (Harry and Deborah Merkin) delivered the items to Dorchester Youth Soccer. Although we now live in a world in which one continuously hears and reads about our penchant for greed and the callous indifference to the suffering of others, It is comforting to know that there are kids forging ahead to selflessly serve others. Adam Merkin is indeed ‘A man for Others’ in the true Jesuit tradition. He is also what our Jewish brethren would refer to as a ‘Mensch’ (a person having admirable characteristics). Dorchester Youth Soccer would like to thank Adam Merkin and his family for their benevolence. |
